Vaughn is located in Cascade County, Montana, approximately 15 miles northwest of Great Falls and 100 miles north of Helena. The city is home to a population of approximately 800 residents who enjoy the excellent schools, safe streets, and friendly hometown atmosphere for which the city is known.

The city is bordered to the south by the Sun River, an excellent resource for fly-fishing and river floating. Located just 15 miles west of town is Giant Springs State Park, home to one of the largest freshwater springs in the nation. The 4,500-acre park draws over a quarter of a million visitors each year with fishing, hunting, picnicking, wildlife viewing, and over 20 miles of trails for hiking, biking, horseback riding, and snowmobiling.

First Peoples Buffalo Jump State Park offers insight into the history of the American buffalo. Located ten miles west of the city, the park features an archaeological site that is believed to be one of the largest buffalo jumps in North America. Other features of the park include an on-site educational center that features buffalo cultural exhibits, an outdoor amphitheater, and interpretative trail, as well as opportunities for hiking, hunting, and wildlife viewing.
