Black Eagle is located in Cascade County, Montana, just five miles north of the city of Great Falls. Home to a population of approximately 904 residents, the community and the Black Eagle Falls were named for a black eagle spotted in the area by Captain Meriwether Lewis as he led the Lewis & Clark Expedition through the area in 1805.

Black Eagle’s fabulous seasonal climate produces warm summers and cold snowy winters – perfect weather for enjoying the beautiful Central Montana outdoors.

Black Eagle is located nearby to some of the finest outdoor sports and recreation in Montana. The city is situated just four miles west of Giant Springs State Park, home of one of the largest freshwater springs in the nation. The 4,500-acre park draws over a quarter of a million visitors each year with fishing, hunting, picnicking, wildlife viewing, and over 20 miles of trails suitable for hiking, biking, horseback riding, and snowmobiling.

Benton Lake National Wildlife Refuge is located ten miles north of the city. Surrounded by mountain ranges on three sides, the 12,000-acre expanse of mixed-grass prairie and wetlands serves as a refuge and breeding ground for more than 240 species of birds. Hunting is allowed for duck, geese, coot, swan, ring-necked pheasant, sharp-tailed grouse, and gray partridge; all other species are protected.

Black Eagle is home to the Anaconda Hills Golf Course, an 18-hole public golf course that is known for its panoramic views of the Missouri River and Black Eagle Falls. The city is located just minutes from the considerable attractions and amenities of the city of Great Falls. Points of interest include the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center, the nation’s foremost authority on the 8,000-mile journey of the Lewis & Clark Expedition across western North America, and the C. M. Russell Museum Complex, home to the most complete collection of Charles M. Russell art and memorabilia in the world. The award-winning River’s Edge Trail runs through the Black Eagle community, connecting it with parks, museums, and various points of interest located throughout the city of Great Falls.
